Construction Debris Removal in
The Nations
The Nations tears down a post-war cottage and puts up a pair of tall-skinny duplexes almost every week — and every one of them throws off framing scrap, drywall, old cabinets, fixtures, and demo debris that has to leave the lot. We haul it, volume-priced from $120 a cubic yard, and we load it ourselves — no dumpster to rent and fill, no waiting. Metal and wood get recycled, the price is flat and photo-quoted, and there's no Tennessee service tax on top.
Nashville's densest infill-teardown zone
Once working-class West Nashville industrial, The Nations (37209) is now the single densest tall-skinny infill-teardown block in the city — cottage after cottage coming down and two skinny new duplexes going up in its place. That pace produces a constant stream of construction and demolition debris: the demo of the old house, then framing offcuts, drywall scrap, torn-out cabinets and fixtures, flooring, and the move-in trash left when the new build sells. Whether you're a builder clearing between phases or a homeowner who just gutted a kitchen, that material has to get off the lot, and it can't go in the household trash or at the curb.
We're built for exactly that. Send a photo of the pile and get a flat volume price — by the cubic yard for loose debris, or as a truck-fill for a full job — with the loading, the haul, and the disposal already in it. We do the lifting (this isn't a dumpster you fill), we recycle the clean metal and wood where a facility takes it, and we can usually come same or next day to keep the site moving. No Tennessee sales tax on the service, either.
What we haul off the lot
- Teardown & demo debris — the material from a cottage demo, a gutted interior, or a torn-off addition.
- Framing & wood scrap — offcuts, old joists and studs, subfloor, broken sheet goods, pallets.
- Drywall & plaster — busted sheetrock, lath, and the dust-bagged remainder of a demo.
- Old cabinets & fixtures — kitchen and bath cabinets, countertops, toilets, vanities, tubs, sinks, and light fixtures.
- Flooring & finishes — ripped-up carpet, tile, laminate, trim, and the odd roll of leftover underlayment.
- New-build move-in trash — packaging, cardboard, and installer waste from a just-finished duplex.
How construction debris is priced
By volume, flat and photo-quoted before anyone drives out, with the loading and the disposal already in the number and no Tennessee service tax on top. Loose debris prices by the cubic yard; a whole job prices as truck-fill; and pulled fixtures price on their own.
| Debris / Volume | Flat price |
|---|---|
| Construction debris (per cubic yard) | $120 |
| Small demo pile | $82 |
| Medium demo pile | $129 |
| Large demo pile | $208 |
| Toilet / vanity / sink (each) | $64 / $93 / $61 |
| Rolled carpet | $68 |
| Job truck-fill (1/4 → full) | $241 · $338 · $431 · $513 · $587 · $661 · $732 |
$75 minimum. We load it — no dumpster to rent or fill. Very heavy loads (concrete, brick, dirt, tile in volume) are weight-sensitive; send a photo and we'll confirm the flat number before we roll.
Does Nashville pick up construction debris?
No — and this trips up a lot of first-time renovators. Metro Nashville has no curbside bulk pickup at all, and the four Metro convenience centers (Anderson Lane in Madison, Omohundro Place, and two others) are set up for residents dropping off limited household bulk and yard brush — one bulk item plus about a cubic yard of extra trash free, Tuesday to Saturday. They are not a destination for contractor construction and demolition debris. C&D has to go to a landfill permitted for it — in this part of town that's the Southern Services C&D Landfill off Amy Lynn Drive in North Nashville — plus metal and wood recyclers for the clean fractions. Getting a load of framing scrap and drywall to the right facility, during its hours, in a truck that can carry it, is the part we take off your hands: we load it on site and haul it to where it's actually accepted, in one flat-priced trip.
Debris haul-off vs. renting a dumpster
| Option | Who loads it | On-site time | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro convenience center | You | — | Won't take contractor C&D; residential bulk/brush only, Tue–Sat |
| Roll-off dumpster rental | You fill it | Days to weeks | Sits on the lot, weight limits, and in TN a dumpster rental is taxable |
| Traditional debris hauler | Crew | Scheduled | On-site estimate, wider windows |
| JunkRabbit | Our crew | One visit | None — flat photo price, we load and haul, no tax line |
For a single teardown or one phase of a build, we're often the cleaner call: no dumpster parked on a tight infill lot, no self-loading, and no separate Tennessee tax.
Where the debris goes
A demo load is rarely all landfill. We separate the clean metal — old ductwork, fixtures, appliance carcasses, rebar and steel offcuts — and send it to a scrap recycler, and where wood recycling is available we keep the clean wood out of the pit too. What's genuinely spent goes to a C&D landfill built for it. Because Middle-Tennessee tipping fees are low relative to the coasts, we can price the volume fairly and still route the recyclable fractions responsibly — the disposal and the recycling are both already inside your flat number.
Who calls us in The Nations
- Builders & GCs — clearing demo and framing scrap between trades so the lot stays workable and the next crew isn't stepping over debris.
- DIY renovators — a homeowner who gutted a kitchen or bath and has a garage full of cabinets, tile, and drywall to lose.
- Flippers — a cottage bought to rebuild, cleared of its old contents and its demo in one pass before framing starts.
- New-build closeouts — packaging, offcuts, and installer trash swept out before a just-finished duplex is photographed and listed.
Job-site access & staging
Infill lots in The Nations are tight — two houses squeezed onto what held one, narrow drives, and neighbors mid-build on both sides. We work with that: the truck stages where it won't block the framing crew or the concrete pour, we pull debris from inside the shell or off the pile without churning up a finished drive, and we time the visit around the trades so the haul doesn't cost you a work day. From a single-lot teardown to a street of duplexes going up together, the access is handled and the price stays flat.
What Nations builders & owners say
"I build duplexes off 51st and the demo piles up fast. They come next-day, load it themselves, and quote it flat from a photo so I know the number before they show. Keeps my lots clean between trades."
"Gutted my kitchen myself and the garage filled up with cabinets, tile, and drywall. Didn't want a dumpster sitting in the drive for a week. They loaded the whole pile, recycled the metal, flat price, no tax nonsense."
"Cleared out an old cottage we bought to tear down — junk inside plus the demo. One visit, one flat number, they did all the lifting. Framing started on schedule."
Construction debris questions, answered
How is construction debris priced?
By volume, flat: $120 per cubic yard, small/medium/large piles $82 / $129 / $208, or a truck-fill from $241 (1/4) to $732 (full). Fixtures price individually. $75 minimum, disposal included, no Tennessee service tax.
Do you load it?
Yes — this isn't a dumpster you fill. Our crew loads the framing scrap, drywall, cabinets, and demo debris off the lot or out of the house.
Does Nashville take construction debris at the convenience centers?
No — those are for residential bulk and brush, not contractor C&D. It has to go to a C&D landfill like Southern Services in North Nashville, which we handle.
Is this better than a dumpster?
Often, for a single teardown or one build phase — no dumpster on a tight lot, we load it, and there's no taxable rental like a dumpster carries in TN.
Do you recycle?
Yes — clean metal goes to scrap and clean wood is separated where wood recycling is available; only the spent remainder is landfilled.
Can you come same or next day?
Usually. Send a photo and we book the soonest window to keep the lot moving.
