Hillsboro Village
Mattress & Dorm Furniture Removal in
Hillsboro Village
The end-of-semester twin, the mini-fridge, the particle-board desk that never survives another lease — hauled out of Vanderbilt and Belmont student rentals for a flat $111 and up, photo-quoted. We carry it down the walk-up so nothing hits the curb (Metro won't take it there anyway), recycle the mattress where we can, and there's no separate Tennessee sales-tax line. Built for the early-May move-out crush, when the whole Village empties at once.
How mattress removal works in the Village
1 · Send a photo
Snap the mattress, the mini-fridge, the whole pile of move-out furniture. An exact flat price comes back in seconds — no walkthrough, no callback.
2 · Pick a window
Choose a time — during move-out weeks, book early. Parents can approve the price remotely and coordinate access with a lockbox.
3 · We carry it down
A vetted, insured hauler carries the mattress and furniture down from the apartment, recycles the mattress, and donates what still works.
How much does mattress removal cost in Hillsboro Village?
Flat and photo-quoted before anyone drives, with the carry-down and the disposal already in the number and no Tennessee service tax on top. Mattresses price by size; the dorm extras that come with a student move-out have their own flat prices.

4 ways to get rid of a mattress in Hillsboro Village
| Option | Cost | Speed | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-haul to a Metro convenience center | Free (first bulk item) | Tue–Sat only | A mattress won't fit a car — you need a truck and to reach Madison by 4:30 p.m., mid-move-out |
| Donate (Goodwill, ReStore) | Free | 1–2 weeks | Most won't take a used mattress at all; furniture must be clean and undamaged |
| Traditional full-service hauler | $150–$400+ | 2–3 days | On-site estimate, a wide window, and they're slammed during move-out too |
| JunkRabbit | $82 flat (twin) | Same day | None — photo quote, we carry it down, you do nothing |
Does Nashville pick up mattresses?
Not at the curb. Metro Nashville has no free curbside bulk-item pickup, so a mattress leaned against a Hillsboro Village dumpster or set out on 21st Avenue doesn't get collected — it just sits there through move-out week, which is exactly when landlords and neighbors have the least patience for it. The one free municipal route is to self-haul it to a convenience center — Anderson Lane at 939A Anderson Ln in Madison or Omohundro Place — first bulk item free, open Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The catch is the same one every student hits: a mattress doesn't fit in a car, most donation centers won't take a used one, and nobody's renting a truck the same weekend they're flying home. We bring the truck, carry it down from the apartment, and recycle it — same-day during the crush.
What we take on a student move-out
- Mattresses & box springs — twin, full, queen, king; the sagging dorm-issue and the cheap first-apartment set alike.
- Mini-fridges & microwaves — the dorm-room appliances that don't survive the summer in storage.
- Particle-board furniture — the flat-pack desk, dresser, bookshelf and nightstand that can't take another move.
- Futons, papasans & busted seating — the common-room casualties of a lease year.
- Whole-apartment clear-outs — everything four roommates leave behind, priced together as a truck-fill.
What happens to your mattress after pickup
A mattress is one of the more recyclable things in a move-out pile — the steel springs, the polyurethane foam, the wood frame, and the cotton and fiber can each be separated and reprocessed where a mattress-recycling facility accepts them, keeping a bulky, hard-to-compress item out of Middle Point Landfill. Working mini-fridges and furniture that still has a life go to donation first — Goodwill of Middle TN and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore — so the next student can use them. Whatever can't be recycled or rehomed is the only part that's landfilled, and all of it is inside your flat price with no separate dump fee.
The early-May move-out crush
Hillsboro Village lives on the university calendar. Wedged between Vanderbilt and Belmont, its 1920s bungalows and mid-rise apartments are wall-to-wall student rentals, and every spring they empty on almost the same day. Vanderbilt undergrads move out around Saturday, May 2, 2026, with graduation the following week, and Belmont, Lipscomb, TSU, and Trevecca stack the same two weeks — so for a fortnight the Village, Belmont, West End and Midtown are buried in abandoned mattresses, dead mini-fridges, and flat-pack furniture nobody's driving home. That's the single busiest window we work here, and the one where booking ahead matters most. Send a photo before finals week, lock a flat price, and we'll slot the pickup into move-out weekend before the curbs disappear under everyone else's stuff.
Walk-ups, mid-rises, and move-out day access
A Village mattress rarely comes out clean. It's a queen down the tight interior stairs of a subdivided 1920s house, or a twin out of a third-floor mid-rise with the elevator jammed by everyone else moving the same weekend, and half the time the student is mid-final or already gone. That's fine — our crew carries it down from the apartment, works a lockbox or a parent's remote booking, and doesn't need anyone lifting alongside them. From the Village core to Belmont and out along West End, the carry is handled and the price stays flat.
When people call us for mattress removal
- End-of-semester move-out — the lease is up, the mattress and furniture have to be gone before the walk-through.
- Graduation — a whole apartment cleared while the family's in town for commencement.
- Roommate turnover — one bed and set of furniture out mid-year as roommates change.
- New mattress arriving — the old one out the day the replacement is delivered.
- Landlord unit turnover — a rental stripped of left-behind mattresses and furniture between tenants.
Why the Village chooses JunkRabbit for mattress removal
- Flat price from a photo — the number you see is the number you pay; no on-site estimate, no day-of upcharge.

- Move-out ready — we scale up for the early-May crush and book around finals and graduation.
- Recycled and all-in — mattress recycling and donation included, no Tennessee service tax, parents can book remotely.
What Hillsboro Village customers say
"My daughter's Vandy lease ended the day after finals and she couldn't move the mattress or the mini-fridge herself. I booked it from out of state, they carried everything down from the third floor, and it was the exact price quoted."
"Four of us moving out of a house off Belmont Blvd. Two mattresses, a busted futon, a pile of Ikea furniture — gone in one truck-fill, recycled the mattresses. Way easier than fighting over a rented truck."
"New mattress was being delivered and I had no way to get the old queen out of my Village walk-up. Same-day, off it went, flat price, no sales-tax surprise. Painless."
